Endless miracle of the first chapter - Part II

In this article I will continue to present the mathematical and structural wonders of the first chapter of the Holy Quran. The first chapter of the Holy Quran is of central importance since it is recited at least 17 times each day in the 5 prayers. It summarizes the whole Muslim faith. In fact, it summarizes all the thoughts and teachings of God's prophets. It is equal to the whole Holy Quran, as can be read in one of prophet Muhammad sayings. Here is the first chapter followed by English translation:

"In the name of God, The Compassionate, The Merciful; Praise be to God; the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds(a); The Compassionate, The Merciful; Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee do we worship, and thine aid do we seek. Show us the straight way; The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, Those whose portion is not wrath, And who go not astray."

Mahematical and structural studies of this chapter show that there are incredible mathematical systems that guide the structuring of its 120 letters (139 when counting the opening verse as an integral part).

Fact 11

As we have seen in the early presented facts key letters are distributed in interesting ways related to the number 7. Here and in the next facts we will focus further on the letters of this chapter. Arabic alphabet (the language the Holy Quran is revealed in) consists of 28 letters. This number is equal to 7 × 4. When examining the the first chapter of the Holy Quran we find that its words are written using 21 unique Arabic letters (i.e. repeated excluded). This number is also divisible by 7 since it is equal to 7 × 3. Here are the 21 letters found in the first chapter of the Holy Quran:

Fact 12

And when counting only the letters that appear in the mysterious Quranic initials (such as Alef, Lam, Meem of ch. 2 or Yam Seen of ch. 36) we see that all the Quranic initials are used in this chapter. This means there are 14 Quranic initials in this chapter a number that is divisible by 7 (14 = 7 × 2). Here are the 14 letters making the Quranic initials:

Fact 13

The number of these initials' letters including their repetitions in the first chapter of the Holy Quran is 119 which is equal to  7 × 17.

Fact 14

We continue the exploration of the mathematical structure of t he first chapter of the Holy Quran and now using cumulative sum method. What we do is to count the letters making each word of this chapter and sum them up as we move to the next word.

We take then all the values and put them as ususal side by side right-to-left to get a huge number (69 digits) that is divisible by 7.

The same is done to this same chapter without the opening verse:

This number too (57 digits) is divisible by 7 (in fact it is divisible by 7 three times!).

Fact 15

Expressing each verse by a) its number b) number of words c) number of letters and putting the values side by side gives yet another huge number that is divisble by 7. (the numbers are arranged right-to-left as Arabic language is)

Fact 16

The chapter that comes right after the first chapter in the Holy Quran is chap. 2 which is named "The heifer". This chapter is the longest one in the Holy Quran and it is initiated by one of the mysterious Quranic initials Alef, Lam and Meem (الم - the three letters in Arabic A, L and M). This means that the verse that follows the opening chapter is the verse "Alef, Lam, Meem". Here are the first few verses of chap. 2:

" (1) Alef, Lam, Meem (2) No doubt is there about this Book: It is a guidance to the God-fearing, (3) Who believe in the unseen, who observe prayer, and out of what we have bestowed on them, expend for God; (4) And who believe in what hath been sent down to thee, and in what hath been sent down before thee, and full faith have they in the life to come: (5) These are guided by their Lord; and with these it shall be well. "

The Quranic initials are one of the most mysterious aspects of the Holy Quan since they consist of Arabic letter without signifying any semantic meanings. They are the ultimate challenge and researchers all over the word try to discover their ultimate purpose and meaning. Some researchers have already pointed to numerical systems and phenomena relating to these letters but they think that much remains to be discovered. The first chapter of the Holy Quran has 59 Alef, Lam or Meem letters. Number 59 is a prime number - it's the 17th prime number in universe. The distribution of these 59 letters is also interesting. Here are the words of the first chapter along with the numbe of Alef, Lam, Meem letters in them:

Fact 17

As mentioned in the previous fact there are 59 Alef, Lam and Meem letters in the first chapter of the Holy Quran. These three letters appear this number of times in the first chapter:

No matter how we put these numbers side by side they are all divisible by 7.

Fact 18

The number of occurrences of all letters of this chapter show interesting phenomena. Consider this table that has the letters used in the first chapter arranged from most used to less used (right-to-left as Arabic language is) with the number of occurrences under each letter:

Putting these values side by side we get a 26 digit number that is divisble by 7.
It is equal to 7 × 1603176192065097302021746

Fact 19

Some may claim that this is a mere coincidenc, but the same can be observed when examining the opening verse by itself. Here are the 10 letters that make the opening verse alonf with the number of times each letter appears in the opening verse:

Putting these values side by side we get a 10 digit number that is divisble by 7 two times!

Fact 20

Let's see further evidence for the thoughtful structuring of the first chapter of the Holy Quran. We use now the values of letter occurrecnes in the whole first chapter to represent key words. The next table shows the letters making the word Quran (القرءان) along with their number of occurrence in the first chapter:

Fact 21

We do the same with the name of the first chapter. It is called Al fatiha (the opening or key) الفاتحه. Here is the table:

The values side by side right-to-left provide this number 5532202222 which is equal to 19 × 291168538. Instead of representing the letter F ( ف ) by zero - since it does not appear in the first chapter -, we don't represent it at all to get the number 553222222 which is equal to 7 × 79031746.

Fact 22

As can be seen in the table under fact 18 the first letter in chapter one, letter Ba ( ب ), appears 4 times in whole chapter while the last one in chapter, letter Noon ( ن ), appears 11 times. Putting these two values side by side right-to-left provides the number 114 which is equal to the number of chapters in the Holy Quran and is equal to 19 × 6. This suits nicely with he saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the first chapter of the Holy Quran is equal to the whole Quran.

Fact 23

It is not only the letters of the first chapter that show interesting distributions. The Shadda sign (emphasis sign) that signify a emphasised (dobbel) consonant in Arabic language is placed according to some interesting mathematical systems. Some words in Arabic language have one or two emhasis signs that signify vocal emphasis when speaking, a thing that is similar to some other scriptural languages such as Hebrew (as in the Torah - Old testament). Let's consider these facts:

» There are 14 emphasis signs in this chapter. 14 is equal to 7 × 2

» Representing each verse by the number of emphasis signs in it and putting the values side by side right-to-left provides the number 3121223 which is equal to 7 × 445889

»The really interesting thing is that the distribution of those 14 emphasis signs on the 31 words of the first chapter of the Holy Quran is built by key miracle number 7. As we did previously with key letters, we write under each word how many emphsis signs there are in it:

The incredible thing about all what have been mentioned so far is that all those mathematical phenomena are seen in the same 139 letters making the opening chapter of the Holy Quran, a chapter that expresses all the main themes in Muslim belief and which is written in flawless, top quality & challenging Arabic language.

Let's see what God says in chapter 25 (The Criterion - الفرقان) of the Holy Quran:

"(4) And the infidels say, "This Koran is a mere fraud of his own devising, and others have helped him with it, who had come hither by outrage and lie." (5) And they say, "Tales of the ancients that he hath put in writing! and they were dictated to him morn and even." (6) SAY: He hath sent it down who knoweth the secrets of the Heavens and of the Earth. He truly is the Gracious, the Merciful."

"وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِفْكٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ وَأَعَانَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءُو ظُلْمًا وَزُورًا * وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٱكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِىَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا * قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ ٱلَّذِى يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ‌ٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

The sophistication in verse distribution

Many of the phenomena presented on this site point to the ingenious arrangement of the words, verses and chapters of the Holy Quran. It is clear that mathematical systems played a role in the authoring of this Book. God is not like anything that we know. This is what He says in the Holy Quran. His intelligence is unlimited and this is evident in His final revelation to mankind.

Today I am going to present structural phenomena in the Holy Quran that testify on God’s unlimited ability. We will observe some facts about the Holy Quran that it would be highly inconceivable that they were put in place by men at time when computers were not available. Because the mere observation of these features of the Holy Quran requires modern computer software.

The Holy Quran has 6236 verses distributed in 114 chapters. The content of the verses along with their arrangement in the Quran was revealed by God by His archangel Gabriel. All the verses were revealed unto Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in a period that extended 23 years (between the years 610 CE and 632 CE).

The phenomena that will be presented here concern odd and even numbers. Numbers 3, 5, 7 and 9 etc. are odd numbers while numbers 2, 4, 6 and 8 etc. are even numbers. Half of the chapters have an odd number as their serial number  (order of arrangment in the Holy Book), while others (second half) have an even number as their serial number. In the same manner, some chapters have a verse count which is an odd number, while others have a verse count which is an even number. Chapter number 19 (odd) is named "Mary" and it has 98 verses (even number verse count).

What follow is that the chapters of the Holy Quran can be arranged into two main divisions:

a) Chapters that their serial number and their verse count match when it concerns being odd or even e.g. chapter nr. 2 (Heifer) since it has 286 verses (both are even numbers) and chapter nr. 17 (Children of Israel) since it has 111 verses (both are odd numbers). These chapters of this type will be referred to here as matching chapters.

b) Chapters that their serial number and their verse count do not match when it concerns being odd or even e.g. chapter nr. 76 (Human) since it has 31 verses or chapter nr. 12 (Joseph) since it has 111 verses. These chapters of this type will be referred to here as non-matching chapters.

The facts that can be observed in the Holy Quran:

» The first interesting observation is that the number of matching chapters is 57 chapters and the number of non-matching chapters is also 57 chapters.

» We see also that the number of chapters that have an odd number verse count is 54 chapters and the number of chapters that have an even number verse count is 60 chapters. Half of each division is matching chapters and the other half is of non-matching chapters. In other words, wee see for example that there are 27 chapters that have an odd number verse count and that their serial number is also an odd number (matching chapters) and another 27 chapters that have an odd number verse count and that their serial number is an even number (non-matching chapters). The same appllies to the chapters with an even number verse count. Here we have two parts, 30 chapters each. Please consult the table below:

» In addition to that, and as can be seen in the table, the sum of matching chapters' numbers and how many verses in them is 6236. Interestingly, the Holy Quran as a whole has exactly 6236 verses!

» At the same time we see that the total of chapters' numbers and their verse count for the non-matching chapters is 6555. This number is equal to the sum of chapters' numbers of the whole Holy Quran, i.e. 1 + 2 + 3 + ... + 114 !

There is no record that Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his mates sat down and calculated verse totals. No at all! It is Allah - Jehovah God who is capable of doing this. Just imagine how effortful it would be to discover these phenomena without modern computer software such as Excel.

The miracle of Adam & Jesus

As is well known, Jesus Christ (pbuh) is one of the most popular and controversial personalities in history. To some, he is seen as God, to others he is the son of God. Muslims in particular, however, view Jesus Christ as a messenger of God, who was sent to spread God’s word and obey his commands, as did Moses (pbuh), Noah (pbuh), Abraham (pbuh) and those who were sent before him, as well as Muhammad (pbuh) who was sent after him. Muslims have a most honourable regard for Jesus, and belief in him is a condition of Islam.

While it may come as a surprise to some, the Qur’an is in fact a great source for anyone wishing to learn about Jesus Christ! The Qur’an speaks with utmost respect and beauty of this Holy Messenger and his mother Mary.

There is no doubt that there are people who are sceptical about the Qur’an and consider it the written word of Muhammad, and it is the duty of a Muslim to acknowledge and respect all opinions, so long as they can be logically and fairly proven.

There are also people who deny the Prophets and the miracles that came with them. Among those are the miracles of the creation of Adam and Jesus Christ. God's response to those rejecting such miracles is: (Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was.) [Al-Imran: 59].

In examining this verse, we notice that God Almighty tells us that Jesus Christ, like Adam (pbuh), was created without a father. Similarly, both were Prophets, and both presented a miracle in the way in which their exemplary morals and behaviour were different from those of ordinary people. This is the Islamic argument; that Jesus cannot be regarded as divine simply because he had no father, because if that holds true, then Adam must also be considered divine as he had neither a father nor a mother.

But the question is: How can this verse really convince someone who simply rejects the Qur’an as the true word of God? After all, a sceptic has every right to be sceptical, but along with this scepticism comes a right upon him to seek proof in order to erase any doubt beyond question! So is there any physical proof for the truth of these words? Is there something, within this verse, that can tangibly prove the proposed similarities between Jesus and Adam? No judgment is made in the words to follow; this is left for the reader to contemplate.

What is interesting is that this connection between Jesus and Adam is not merely confined to the meaning of the verse as explained above. This connection even exists with regards to the various mentions of both Jesus and Adam in the Qur’an.

To explain further, if we look for the word ‘Jesus’ in the Qur’an, we find that it is mentioned 25 times in the Qur’an. Similarly, if we look at the mention of ‘Adam’ in the Qur’an, we find, again, that it is mentioned exactly 25 times!

It is only natural for an atheist, probably even a Muslim, to consider this a coincidence. Therefore, we must look further, and see whether God Almighty has deposited in this verse any consistent numerical symmetry that could destroy any possibility of coincidence.

Now, reflecting on the various verses where Jesus and Adam are mentioned, we find that the previous verse – (Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam) - is the only verse in the Qur’an where both Jesus and Adam were mentioned collectively. In no other verse do the two names meet; this gives the verse a pivotal importance in our discussion.

Furthermore, and amazingly enough, the number of times the word Adam was mentioned from the beginning of the Qur’an up to and including this crucial verse is 7 times, and the number of times Jesus was mentioned from the beginning of the Qur’an up to and including this verse is also 7 times!

That's not all! The 19th occurrence of the word Adam appears in chapter 19 "Mary". At the same time, the 19th occurrence of the word Jesus appears also in chapter 19 "Mary"!

To better illustrate this beautiful consistency, each of the 25 verses mentioning Jesus and Adam are listed below in their order of appearance in the Qur’an:

The above facts demonstrate the accurateness of the Qur’an in its depiction of Jesus and Adam, not only in terms of meaning, but also in terms of context and numerical symmetry. Both prophets are mentioned 25 times, and the sole place where they meet together is at the point where both happen to be mentioned for precisely the seventh time. In addition, anyone who reads the Qur’an will note that this is not a deliberate play on words to simply preserve consistency; meaning and context are never lost throughout the verses of this Holy Book.

Finally, this is simply one out of thousands of similar examples that have been discovered in the Qur’an, and the question is whether all these can come by chance? Or is it in fact God Almighty who preserved this perfect balance? This is left to the reader’s discretion, but regardless the answer, the ever-present challenge of the Qur’an to all of mankind and angels still resonates today: (Say: If the whole of mankind and the Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.) [Al-Isra’: 88].

Endless miracle of the first chapter

In this article I will present recently discovered mathematical phenomena in the first chapter of the Holy Quran (The opening chapter). The first chapter of the Holy Quran is named "Al Fatiha" "الفاتحه" which means "The key" i.e. "The chapter that starts the Book". This chapter is of tremendous importance in Islam and in the life of Muslims. It is recited in order to glorify Allah - God Almighty and it is a prayer wherein the reciter asks Allah for guidance and support. A Muslim recites this chapter at least 17 times in the 5 daily prayers. Without it the prayer (Salat) is not complete. The significance of this particular chapter can be seen in the fact that it is placed at the very beginning of the Holy Quran. This chapter has 17 different names such as: "Book's Mother", "Doubler Seven" (since it has 7 verses and each two verses explain each other), it is named also "The Cure", "The Sufficient", "Base", "Gratitude", "Treasure" and many other names.

As can be seen the reciter of this chapter will be expressing the main pillars of faith and in the words of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon Him) "this chapter is equivalent to the whole Quran".

Before proceeding to the mathematical phenomena found here I would like to make a point clear about the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran is the word of Allah - Jehovah God that was revealed unto Muhammed (محمد) son of Abd Allah son of Abd Al Mutalib of the House of Hashim between the years 610 CE and 632 CE. The Quran was revealed in Arabic language. It was written down and learned by heart by Prophet's followers during his life ime and it was gathered short time after his death. The way words are wirtten in the Quran is also a revelation by God through arch angel Gabriel (Peace be upon him). The Quran has 7 different recitation versions (called Qira'at - singular: Qira'a) that follow different dialectis spoken by the Arabs at time of revelation. The different Qira'at don't differ in conveyed meanings and messges. Diffrences among them take the form of alternating ways of reading some words (a thing that expands the meaning of the verses) or the differences concern the way verses are numbered (joined together or split apart). Again differences that has no impact on overoall meaning. In fact, the different Qira'at constiture the ultimate challenge and miracle of this Scripture.

When it comes to the first chapter of the Holy Quran the main difference among the different Qira'at, that concerns what will be presented here, relates to the first verse of this chapter. Some Qira'at count it as an integrated part of the chapter (i.e. that it is verse number 1) while others do not count it as part of this chapter. The opening verse is "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم" which means "In the name of God, The Compassionate, The Merciful". This opening verse has its own mathematical wonders as can be seen here. Most of what will be presented here relates to Qira'at such as the recitation of Qaloon An Nafia' (where the opening verse is not numbered and counted as part of chapter). Other phenomena seen in recitations such as that of Hafs An A'asim (where the opening verse is part of the chapter) will also be presented.

Some information about this chapter:

  • It has 7 verses
  • It consists of 29 words (and two conjunctive waws - واو العطف)
  • It consists of 139 letters
  • It's the 5th revealed chapter of the Holy Quran

Now to the mathematical wonders of this chapter:

Many of the phenomena presented here relate to the key miracle number in the Quran number 19. This number is a prime number which means that it is divisible only by itself and one. But why 19 ?! Is there a divine reason for using the number 19 instead of some other number as a coding number for Scripture ?! Besides being a prime number, the number 19 is the gematrical value of the word "ONE" in all scriptural languages Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic. For example, in Arabic, the word for "ONE" is "WAHD" "واحد". The gematrical values of the letters W, A, H, and D are 6, 1, 8, and 4, respectively. These numbers add up to 19 (6+1+8+4=19).

Therefore, the number 19 can be looked at to signify the First Commandment in all scriptures that there is only ONE God.

1st Fact

Many of the facts presented here concern the letters of the first chapter as they are represented by numerical values. I guess one of the simplest ways to represent the first chapter is by giving each letter a value according to its order of appearance among all the letters making up the whole chapter. Let us take an example. Here is a popular translation for the very first words revealed by God in Genesis chapter one.

As can be seen above each letter gets a value representing its order of appearance in the verse. A repeated letter gets the same initial value it was assigned.

The first word of chapter number one of the Holy Quran is "الحمد" (pronounced "Al-hamd" meaning: praise). Alef ( ا ) is the first letter of this word and gets thus the numeric value 1. Lam ( ل ) is the second letter to appear and gets the value 2. We continue assigning values in this manner: H'aa' ( ح ) gets the value 3, Meem ( م ) gets the value 4 and Dal ( د ) gets the value 5. This process of assignig letters values according to thier order of appearance in the chapter  is continued until the end of the chapter. Letter Dad gets the highest value of 21 (it is the last letter to appear among the words of the chapter). 

Doing this regarding the first chapter of the Holy Quran (without opening verse following the recitation of  Qaloon An Nafia') and putting the values for each letter side-by-side right-to-left (as Arabic language is) we get a huge number consisting of 165 digits. This number is perfectly divisible by key miracle number 19 (i.e. with no remainder).

2nd Fact

We do exaclty the same as in fact number one to the first chapter of the holy Quran witth the exception that the process of assigning lettes values starts from the opening verse itself. The opening verse is regarded as an integral part of the first chapter in some recitations, whereas in others it is not. The opening verse is "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم" which means "In the name of God, The Compassionate, The Merciful". The first letter is Baa and gets thus the numeric value 1, the second letter to appears is the letter Seen and gets thus the value 2, the third letter to appear is Meem and gets the value 3. As we can see the Arabic letters get different numeric values than those deduced under fact number one.

After finding out the numeric values of the 21 letters that compose the first chapter of the Holy Quran as described above, we represent each letter of the chapter (without the opening verse itself - the part from "الحمد لله رب العلمين" - English: "Praise to God.." to end of chapter) by the deduced values. Putting these values side-by-side right-to-left results in a huge number consisting of 163 digits. This number is also divisible perfectly by key number 19.

There is no mathematical necessity that both numbers should be divisible by 19. Please consult the tables to see that.

3rd Fact

Here and in the next three points we will be using letter-value systems derived from the Holy Quran and we will be dealing with the first chapter of the Holy Quran following the recitation of Qaloon An Nafia' (i.e. without the opening verse). There exist some letter-number tables where each letter of the Arabic alphabet is given a particular numerical value. These systems are based on numerous research and findings in the Holy Quran. Each time, we will be giving each letter of this chapter a value according to the table of interest and put all values side-by-side right-to-left.

The first letter-value system we will be using is based on the names of Allah - Jehovah God mentioned in the Holy Quran. The special thing about this table is that many names of God, using these values, get totals that are all divisible by 11. The word Allah - God - الله itself gets the total 11. Number 11 is a prime number (it cannot be devised by numbers other than itself and one). This number signifies God Almighty. the eternal unchanged Creator.

So, we take each letter of this chapter, assign it a value accoridng to this system and put all the values side-by-side right-to-left. The number we get consists of 163 digits. This huge number is divisible by 19. It is also divisible by 7 which is also a key miracle number.

4th Fact

We use yet another letter-value system. This time a table which is based on the number of occurrences of the Arabic  language letters among the mysterious Quranic initials. Some chapters of the Holy Quran are initiated by mysterious strings of letters, such as A, L, M (الم) or E, S (يس). These letters convey no semantic meaning and no one is 100% sure what is the ultimate purpose of these letters but many researchers maintain that these are challenging keys that hide numeric systems & phenomena that prove the Divine origin of this Book. There are 29 Quranic initials (14 unique ones - i.e. repeated excluded) which are made of 14 unique letters out of the 28 letters making the Arabic language alphabet.

In this table each letter of the 14 letters appearing among the Quranic initials takes a value according to how many times it appears among the 29 initials. Letters not appearing among the initials take the value zero.

5th Fact

The next letter-value system is based on the above metioned Quranic initials but this time each letter is assigned a value according to its order of appearnce witihin the initials. The first initial is A, L, M (الم) in chapter number 2, therefore the A ( ا ) gets the value 1, L ( ل ) gets the value 2 and M ( م ) gets the value 3. We do the same to the rest of the initials' letters up to the last letter N ( ن ) (in chapter 68 - The Pen) which gets the highest value of 14. Here is the table with the values:

6th Fact

Here we apply a third letter-value system named Islamic Gommal (الجمل الإسلامي). This table is based on the meaning of Arabic words in the Holy Quran where the values different words take reflect semantic relationships among them. The system is based on the occurrences of Arabic language roots in the Holy Quran. Here is the table extracted after research of the words of the Holy Quran:

Giving each letter of the opening chapter of the Holy Quran a value according to this table and putting the values side by side right-to-left provides a number consisting of 316 digits that is divisible by 19.

Note: The facts mentioned above (In facts 3, 4, 5 and 6) all concern the first chapter of the Holy Quran without the opening verse (as in the recitaion of Galoon An Nafia'). For letter-value table under fact 3 we still get a huge number divisible by 19 even when having the opening verse as part of this chapter. Pay attention that the same letter value systems mentioned under fact 3 & fact 4, when applied to chapter 76 "Human being", give huge numbers (+1429 digit) that are both divisible by human chromosome number (46) which was discovered in the year 1955 by advanced microscope techniques.

7th Fact

Most of the above mentioned facts concern the first chapter of the Holy Quran without the opening verse (as in the recitation of Qaloon An Nafia'). An interesting fact is that this chapter (without a numbered opening verse) contains 19 Alef (A) ( ا ) letters! The special thing about the letter Alef is that:

a. It is the first letter of the first chapter of the Holy Quran (without opening verse), that is in the word Alhamd - الحمد - (Praise).

b. It was the first revealed letter of the Holy Quran (First verse of chapter 96).

Letter Alef relates to numerous mathematical phenomena in the Holy Quran. For example it relates to human chromosome number in chapter 76 (named Human being - الإنسن), as there are exactly 199 Alef letters in that chapter. The truly interesting thing is that 199 is the 46th prime number in the universe and that human beings have 46 chromosomes (different species have different number of chromosomes, e.g. the elephant has 56 chromosomes while the hoopoe bird has as many as 126 chromosomes).  This same number, 199, can be seen in different places in the Holy Quran in relation to human creation. In fact, prime numbers themselves are building blocks of the Holy Quran as has been established by numerous findings. Here is the table with the A ( ا ) letters in chapter one:

8th Fact

Number 19 keeps to surprise us. As can be seen in the table under fact number 9, there are exactly 19 words containg one or more of the three letters making the word Allah ( الله ) - God in the first chapter (as in most of the facts presented so far: without opening verse). The three letters that build the word Allah are: Alef ( ا ), Lam ( ل ) and Haa ( ه ).

9th Fact

The mathematical wonders of the Quran are not restricted to number 19 but include also the number 7. Both 19 & 7 are prime numbers which means that they are divisible merely by themselves and one. Holy Quran's verses and prophet sayings point to the centrality of number 7 in the Holy Quran and creation. This number is also central in Biblical studies. The first chapter of the Holy Quran consist of 7 verses (including the opening verse). There are lots of phenomena in the first chapter that relate to the number 7. When counting the number of Alef ( ا ), Lam ( ل ) and Haa ( ه ) letters (the ones that make the word Allah - Holy Quran's author) in this chapter (including opening verse) we find them to be 49 letters. The number 49 is equal to 7 × 7. The total without the opening verse is 41 which is an established value of the word Allah ( الله ) - God as deduced from the occurrences of the mysterious Quranic initials (to increase our confidence in the particular related letter-value system I would like to mention that the value of the word "Human being" (الإنسن) according to those same values is 46 which is equal to human chromosome number, discovered in the year 1955).

10th Fact

Let's pay the table under fact 9 further consideration. The distribution of those 49 letters (or the 41 without the opening verse) is not random at all. It looks like this chapter has countless amount of mathematical stuctural systems. A common method of representing words and letters numerically is by expressing each word by the number of particular letters inside it. For example, chapter 76 "Human being" and chapter 96 "The clot" (a name relating to human creation) when represented by similar methods give huge numbers (278 and 76 digit numbers) that divide perfectly by human chromosome number (46). What we will do here is to express each word in this chapter by the number of Alef ( ا ), Lam ( ل ) and Haa ( ه ) letters (the letters making the word Allah) inside it. For example the first word Bism (بسم) gets the value 0 while the second word Allah (الله) gets the value 4 (note: this word is written by 4 letters in Arabic language). After that we put all the values side by side right-to-left as Arabic language is. Here is a table with the individual word values:

This number divides perfectly by miracle number 7. It is equal to 7 × 600314588603288574573175760320. Even the number representing this chapter without the opening verse (a 27 digit number) divides perfectly by 7. The number is equal to 7 × 60031458860328857457317576.

 

The incredible thing about all what have been mentioned so far is that all those mathematical phenomena are seen in the same 139 letters making the opening chapter of the Holy Quran, a chapter that expresses all the main themes in Muslim belief and which is written in flawless, top quality & challenging Arabic language.

Let's see what God says in chapter 25 (The Criterion - الفرقان) of the Holy Quran:

"(4) And the infidels say, "This Koran is a mere fraud of his own devising, and others have helped him with it, who had come hither by outrage and lie." (5) And they say, "Tales of the ancients that he hath put in writing! and they were dictated to him morn and even." (6) SAY: He hath sent it down who knoweth the secrets of the Heavens and of the Earth. He truly is the Gracious, the Merciful."

"وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِفْكٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ وَأَعَانَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءُو ظُلْمًا وَزُورًا * وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٱكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِىَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا * قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ ٱلَّذِى يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ‌ٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

Quran & Prime Numbers

A prime number is a natural number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, …) that is divisible only by itself and one. The first few primes are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, ... All other natural numbers (except 1) are not primes but composite numbers and are simply produced by multiplying prime numbers together (e.g. 4=2*2, 6=2*3, 8=2*2*2, 9=3*3, ...). Prime numbers are therefore considered as the multiplicative building blocks for all natural numbers including themselves.

Until 1899 number 1 was considered prime but was dropped from the list of primes to simplify the fundamental theorem of arithmetic and therefore considered neither prime nor composite but the unit of numbers or the additive building block for all natural numbers (e.g. 1=1, 2=1+1, 3=1+1+1, 4=1+1+1+1, …). Around 300BC Euclid, Father of Geometry, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclid] proved that there is an infinite number of prime numbers and 70 years later, around 230BC Eratosthenes [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eratosthenes] developed a sieve method for finding prime numbers below any number N by sequentially removing all numbers that are multiple of prime numbers below the square root of N.

In 1793 Carl Gauss, the Prince of Mathematics, who once said "Mathematics is the queen of the sciences and number theory is the queen of mathematics." claimed that the ratio of prime numbers within natural numbers decreases natural-logarithmically as numbers go higher and higher [1/ln(N)] but never diminishes, (e.g. 25% in 100, 16.8% in 1000, 7.9% in million, 5.1% in billion, 3.8% in trillion, 3% in quadrillion, …) which turned out to be almost true but not quite true [http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Carl_Friedrich_Gauss].

Although the ratio of primes follows some predictable pattern, the distribution of prime numbers among natural numbers has no known pattern but yet seems not random. In 1859 Bernard Riemann [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernhard_Riemann] proposed his Riemann Hypothesis to correct the error terms in Gauss’ equation but never include a proof of it and thus the hypothesis remains one of the greatest open questions in mathematics with a $1,000,000 prize to whoever proves or disproves it. In 1972 Hugh Montgomery and Freeman Dyson [http://seedmagazine.com/content/article/prime_numbers_get_hitched] uncovered a new amazing relationship between the distribution of non-trivial zeros of the zeta function in the Riemann Hypothesis and the distribution of energy states of the electrons in heavy atoms like Uranium.

 

The Key:

The Holy Quran starts with a chapter appropriately called The Key (الفاتحة) shown below using the standard recitation method of Hefs and the Uthmanic method of writing.

1. In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Gracious.
    بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

2. Extol be to Allah, Sustainer of the worlds.
   
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

3. The Merciful, the Gracious.
    ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

4. Master of the Day of Judgment,
   
مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

5. You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help.
    إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

6. Guide us to the Right Path:
    ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

7. The path of those whom You bestowed your bounties upon; not of those who have brought upon themselves Your wrath, nor of those who went astray.
   
وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّين صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمَْ

This chapter consists of 7 verses, 29 words and 139 letters. Not only are these prime numbers but their digit sums (7 = 7, 2+9 = 11 and 1+3+9 = 13) are primes too, and the sum of these digit sums (7+11+13 = 31) is yet another prime. Simply amazing! What’s more, joining these prime numbers left-to-right 729139 and right-to-left 139297 also produces primes. And to cap it all, 729139297 is also prime!!!

All praise and thanks are due to our Glorious Lord for showing us one Way to be nearer to Him and to the Truth in sha Allah.

This is a clear evidence that Bism Allah Ar-Rahmaan Ar-Raheem is verse #1 not just a preface to the chapter and is therefore is mandatory and must be recited at all times, not just at the beginning of prayers.

This also shows that the most common recitation method of Hafs (حفص) through Aasim (عاصم) through Imam Ali bin abi Talib (علي بن أبي طالب) is the correct version and other versions only add noise and distortion to the Word of Allah (swt) and must therefore be eliminated, and Allah knows best.

What this new finding uncovers is a new encoding system based on prime numbers that protects The Message to be used to decode whatever Allah allows us of the Holy Quran and Allah guides those who seek His help. 

The number of letters in each Key verse are 19, 17, 12, 11, 19, 18, and 43.
While 19, 17, 11, 19 and 43 are primes, 12 and 18 are not. However, both can combine with their left or right neighbours to produce new primes as follows:

17+12 = 29      12+11 = 23
19+18 = 37      18+43 = 61

It was therefore suggested that paired verses are meant to complete each other’s meaning as verses 2 & 3 and 6 & 7 do.

Arranging the number of letters in each Key verse right-to-left gives a number that only divides by 19 as follows:
          43181911121719    =       19 * 2272732164301

Over it nineteen or “عليها تسعة عشر

The new prime number 2272732164301 has 13 digits with a digit sum of 2+2+7+2+7+3+2+1+6+4+3+0+1 = 40 which refers perhaps to Wisdom Age.

The number 2272732164301 itself is huge and seems very mysterious. I can only think of it as the number of Earth days for something (perhaps the Universe Age): 2272732164301 / 365.25 = 6,222,401,545 or ~6.2 billion years (Universe Age) which disagrees with today’s scientific estimations of 13.6 billion years [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_universe] and Allah is always correct and knows all.

 

The Message:

Having established that the structure of the Key chapter is firmly built upon prime numbers, attention was turned to the structure of the whole Quran which consists of 114 chapters with different number of verses as follows:

Although the numbers of chapters and of verses are not prime numbers, with the Grace of Allah, a new idea was born based on Quran 15:87 where Allah (swt) says to the Prophet (pbuh&f):

"وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ"
“And We’ve given you seven of the doubles and the great Quran.“

where the seven doubles explained by the Prophet (pbuh&f) as the seven verses of The Key chapter as the word “ٱلْمَثَانِى” can also mean “َثَناءَ” or “praise” which is the subject of The Key chapter in which Allah (swt) teaches us how to approach Him for mercy and guidance after praising and extolling Him sincerely.

As a result, the Quran was considered as two parts: a Key part which consists of The Key chapter and a Message part which consists of the remainder 113 chapters, therefore:
                       Quran     =   Key     +   Message
                       114       =   1       +   113           chapters
                       6236      =   7       +   6229          verses

And God behold, everything was prime. 1, 113, 7, and 6229 are all prime numbers (although 1 is currently considered the Unit which more important than a prime) and their digit sums (1+1+3 = 5, 7 = 7, 6+2+2+9 = 19) are primes too. This suggests that the number of words and the number of letters for the whole Quran could be prime numbers with prime digit sums and Allah knows best.

Currently, all softcopies of the Quran found on the Internet are not authorized by any religious body and have different word and letter counts to each other none of which exhibits the above properties of primes and prime digit sums and therefore cannot be relied upon. I therefore, urgently need an authorized softcopy of the Quran to continue this research in sha Allah even if I have to buy it. Please help!


Chapter Numbers:

The Quran does not assign sequence numbers to chapters, it only assigns names. Chapter sequence numbers are used for easy referencing only and are not part of the Quran. Based on the elegant equation Quran = Key + Message, a new 1+113 chapter numbering system is proposed where The Key remains as chapter #1, and all subsequent chapters making up The Message are given new sequence numbers from #1 to #113.

This new 1+113 chapter numbering system can be scientifically confirmed by matching chapter The Iron (الحديد) which is currently numbered 57 back to 56, , the same value as its atomic weight ~55.845 [http://www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iupac/AtWt], that’s 56 times heavier than Hydrogen.

Indeed by adopting this 1+113 system, chapter the Unity or Oneness of God (الإخلاص) would get a new sequence number of #111 which is much more in agreement with the meaning of Oneness when compared to its current #112 number. And Allah knows best.

 

Numerology Systems:

Different numerology systems are in existence and the Abjed one is the most common system used with Arabic and Hebrew text to calculate germinal values. For the purpose of this research however, this system was replaced by a new system that is based on prime values not logarithmic values.

 

Abjed Numerology System

The Abject numerology system [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abjad_numerals] assigns logarithmic values to the Arabic letters in the old Abjed order as shown below:

But when this system was applied to the 139 letters of The Key chapter didn’t produce a prime sum but 10143 = 72 * 207 pointing to the seven doubles twice. A positive result but is not relevant to our prime number research into the Quran.
A new system was needed.

 

Alphabetic Primalogy System

Having failed to find any prime number results with the original Abjed numerology system, a new system was proposed that assigns prime values to the Abjed Arabic letters but even that did not work and instead we used the modern Alphabetic order (not the Abjed order) as shown in the table below to produce the positive results:

Please note that the Arabic language has 28 letters with some variations that currently we consider any standalone Hemza (ء) as an independent letter that precedes all other letters and thus we have 29 letters which a prime number too.

Other variations like elf above letter (ٰ ) is ignored so is floating hamza above line (َٔ ) while short elf (ى), hamza above elf (أ) and below elf (إ) are all considered elf and hemza above waw (ؤ) and above yaa (ئئ) are considered waw and yaa respectively.

However, as we are at the start of this research effort, we reserve the right to change the above replacement system to the most suitable one that gives Primalogy Values (PVs) that are primes and have prime digit sums too.

Further prime-based numerology systems are being explored with, not only Abjed or Alphabet letter orders but also order of letter appearance as suggested by the owners of www.i3gaz.com. Here is a table of the current numerology systems under consideration:

Primalogy Value of The Key Chapter

And God behold everything fell into place when this new Primalogy system applied to the 139 letters of The Key chapter as follows:

Both the total Primalogy Value (PV) is the sum of all the above numbers = 8317 is a prime number and its digit sum is 8+3+1+7 = 19 is also prime number.
Glory to Allah, the Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscience!!!


Primalogy Value of The Unity Chapter

To validate the system further, it was then applied to chapter The Unity (الإخلاص) and, Glory to Allah, both with and without Bism Allah Ar-Rahmaan Ar-Raheem it produced prime PVs and prime digit sums in both cases as follows:

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Gracious.

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
Say He is Allah, the One.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
Allah is Self-Sustainer, Self-Sufficient.

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
Neither gives birth, nor was born.

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
And nothing compares to Him.

The total Primalogy Value with BismAllah = 4201 with its digit sum 4+2+0+1 = 7 are both primes, and the total Primalogy Value without BismAllah = 3167 with its digit sum 3+1+6+7 = 17 are both also primes which shows that the BismAllah of this chapter is optional.

 

Further Research

This research is in its early stages and is open to all who wish to participate for the noble aim of Decoding The Message of The Quran with permission of Allah (swt) and to help the group grow and be effective in awakening the general public to take heed and be ready to meet their Creator instead of the endless pursuit of worldly desires and materialism. Our souls need to conform to the commands of our spirits to please Allah alone and be ready to fight for fairness and justice under the banner of Imam Mehdi and Prophet Jesus (peace be upon them).

We, Muslims and non-Muslims need to think collectively as a unit, not as islands, of knowledge despite our difference to try our best to decode The Message Allah (swt) storing for us as it would be only revealed to those who deserve it and can make noble use of it for the good of all, not the selfish few.

God orders us to contemplate the Quran and study its miracles and one such miracle is its prime number-based structure. We need more guidance from Allah (swt) in finding a robust decoding method to learn the secrets of the Quran. Further research will look at such methods as skipping a prime number of letters or words, shifting letters by different prime numbers depending on their positions within words, verses or chapters, or most likely arranging letters in a 3D matrix of various prime dimensions (19 and 23 are good candidates) and join letters horizontally, vertically or diagonally to find hidden knowledge in sha Allah, in sha Allah, and in sha Allah.

I urgently need an authorized softcopy of the Quran to start letter-processing of the Quran text in sha Allah. I am willing to pay for it, please help! ThanQ.
